Build your budget

Work through the arithmetic, compare your own quotes, and prepare a booking checklist.

Build a budget around the trip you will actually take, including the journey to the hotel or port. Separate shared costs from per-person costs, and avoid adding a charge twice when it is already included in a quote.

Begin with the trip budget workflow, then use the calculators with your written quotes. The hotel tool accepts a nightly accommodation amount and a separate tax allowance. The cruise tool accepts a complete quoted fare per passenger plus extras you enter. Neither tool fetches prices or determines tax rules. Save the supplier's itemized quote alongside your calculation so you can explain every input later.

Work through one option at a time and keep the supplier quote beside your notes. Deposits and later balances are payments toward a purchase, so do not count them as separate trip expenses. Temporary card holds and an unspent contingency reserve also belong in a separate funds-available note. If the party changes, obtain a revised quote before simply changing the per-person divisor. Shared costs and passenger-level purchases can respond differently to an added traveler. The guides below show those distinctions with explicit arithmetic.
